Last week I held a BPIO training session for Microsoft Partners in Johannesburg. The BPIO (Business Process Infrastructure Optimisation) concept is a fairly new initiative that Microsoft is trying to drive. They have actually setup a BPIO university overseas and are exploring the concept of doing it here, but for now I will be driving the process forward in South Africa.
A lot of Microsoft partners attended the five day session last week and there were people from some well know South African company's that attended:
- Dimension Data
- Business Connection
- ISolve
- Bytes Technology Group
- Gajima AST
- Many Others
The course was limited to only 20 people, but the demand was overwhelming and many Microsoft partners could not attend. To solve this problem we will attempt to run another course some time next year. Keep monitoring this Blog Site for future dates.
As an overview of what was discussed during the training session I will provide a brief summary. The concepts were based around unified communications, particularly around Exchange 2007, Office Communication Server 2007 and Live Meeting Server.
| Day | Product | Topics |
| 1 | Exchange | Installation and Configuration Management Console Power Shell Mailbox Maintenance |
| 2 | Exchange | Exchange Server Roles High Availability - CCR, LCR, SCR Shell Scripting Unified Messaging |
| 3 | Office Communication Server | Installation and Configuration Overview of Telephony concepts Instant Messaging |
| 4 | Office Communication Server | Audio and Video Communication PBX Integration with VOIP Gateways Scaling into the Enterprise |
| 5 | Live Meeting Server | Conferencing applications Outlook add-ins for Scheduling |
In the future this list will be expanded to include many other topics such as security, certificates and firewalls. At the end of this blog there is an opportunity to comment. I would appreciate any suggestions made by people that have attended the training on how I can improve this training in the future.
